I’m writing this for myself as much as I am writing this for you guys! Managing your time when you work from home can be quite daunting, and it has been a much-requested blog topic from you guys. Let me preface by saying, I have not yet mastered this art of time-management. But, I’m learning tools to help me get there, and I’m happy to share what I’ve learned so far. First of all, being busy and being productive are two completely different things.

I’ve sat down to write this blog post SO many times in the past 72 hours, and I can’t seem to find the words. I guess that’s the best way for me to describe 2017… it has been quite an indescribable and pivotal year. Next week marks my one year anniversary since quitting the 9-5 grind to be my own boss. Of course, I was nervous not knowing how this would pan out, but I weirdly felt a sense of calm and comfort in my ‘risky’ decision. Looking back, that was my gut telling me everything would be alright if I just let go. Since then, life has kind of felt like I’ve been hitting all of the boost pads in Mario Kart.
About six weeks ago, I began my gut healing protocol as prescribed by my new functional medicine doctor at Parsley Health. Starting with the elimination diet, I cut out gluten, dairy, and refined sugars. However, I also knowingly have negative reactions to corn, soy, and eggs, so those were out as well. As you can imagine eating at restaurants has been incredibly challenging and holiday gatherings are a bit, eh, unexciting since I can’t partake in all of the cheesy creamy goodness and holiday sweets (see my vegan cheesecake recipe that’s elimination diet friendly). I’ll survive, but damn, it’s teaching me some real discipline.
Just in the past two months I’ve traveled to Arizona, Florida, Texas, Kentucky, and now I’m off to LA and then back home to Kentucky again for the holidays. Side note: I should reeeally figure out how frequent flyer miles work, haha. Since travel is becoming such an integral part of my job, I’ve learned to find sustainable ways to adapt my healthy lifestyle while on the road. That way my body won’t crash and burn every time I’m on an airplane (figuratively speaking, let’s hope).

Since January, I’ve found myself slowly, but surely transitioning into a minimalist. Now more than ever I realize that less truly, truly is more, and it makes me a much happier human. Having less gives me more space to breath, think, move, create, and best of all, connect with what I already have and truly value it.
