Introspection and self-reflection… it’s an art, and we all could use more of it. Let me ask you: Does your brain feel cluttered? Do you often feel as though your days are spent trying to keep your head above water? The good news is you’re not alone. However, it’s time to make changes. Being swamped is not something to take pride in. Let’s create space for self-reflection, so we can examine our own internal thoughts and dissect what they mean and how they make us feel.
I’m writing this for myself as much as I am writing this for you guys! Managing your time when you work from home can be quite daunting, and it has been a much-requested blog topic from you guys. Let me preface by saying, I have not yet mastered this art of time-management. But, I’m learning tools to help me get there, and I’m happy to share what I’ve learned so far. First of all, being busy and being productive are two completely different things.
The Best of 2017: Becoming my own boss, traveling to far places, and celebrating 4 years of bloggingFeatured/Lifestyle/Motivation/Yoga
I’ve sat down to write this blog post SO many times in the past 72 hours, and I can’t seem to find the words. I guess that’s the best way for me to describe 2017… it has been quite an indescribable and pivotal year. Next week marks my one year anniversary since quitting the 9-5 grind to be my own boss. Of course, I was nervous not knowing how this would pan out, but I weirdly felt a sense of calm and comfort in my ‘risky’ decision. Looking back, that was my gut telling me everything would be alright if I just let go. Since then, life has kind of felt like I’ve been hitting all of the boost pads in Mario Kart.
About six weeks ago, I began my gut healing protocol as prescribed by my new functional medicine doctor at Parsley Health. Starting with the elimination diet, I cut out gluten, dairy, and refined sugars. However, I also knowingly have negative reactions to corn, soy, and eggs, so those were out as well. As you can imagine eating at restaurants has been incredibly challenging and holiday gatherings are a bit, eh, unexciting since I can’t partake in all of the cheesy creamy goodness and holiday sweets (see my vegan cheesecake recipe that’s elimination diet friendly). I’ll survive, but damn, it’s teaching me some real discipline.
Each day is a fresh, new start, and we decide how we’re going to make the most of it. I’m such a firm believer in mindful morning routines – it’s what gets me centered, focus, and excited for the day ahead. I’ve spoken a lot about mindful mornings on Instagram and a few times on Insta-Story Takeovers, but I wanted to dig a little deeper on the blog to show you what a ‘mindful morning’ looks like for me.
^ Art installation by Benjamin Shine I had the most amazing time at MindBodyGreen’s Revitalize conference in Arizona! There is so much that happened that I can’t really put into words, but I’ll do my best attempt. First, I’d like to give a shoutout to the team at Kohl’s – Kohl’s so generously sponsored my trip and provided my workout wardrobe for the entire weekend. You can find my outfit details scattered throughout this post.
