Can you live a healthy life on a budget? This is a question I get asked a lot. The answer is yes. Yes, you can absolutely eat healthy, exercise, and live a full life all while living within your means. I moved to NYC six years ago with a salary of $35,000 and no paid-time-off. I lived in Astoria, Queens with two roommates, paid $850 a month for rent, and commuted into midtown everyday for work. With that said, I ate super clean, practiced yoga regularly, traveled, AND managed to save $10,000 that year.
Where my female entrepreneurs at? In a world where we’re all hustling hard for our dreams, here’s your friendly reminder to pause, take a breath and make sure you’re still doing things you love outside of work (even if you love your job!). Despite what you might think, it’s possible to run a successful business and still have time for things you do ‘just for fun’. If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you probably know I passionately believe that having more fun makes you more successful. But how do you take a step back and remember what those passions are?
When I found out Whole Foods Market 365 was coming to my neighborhood, my entire being lit up with JOY. I’ll be the first to admit that a large part of my happiness stems from having access to a healthy and affordable grocery store nearby. When I moved to another part of Brooklyn, I gave up the convenience of my neighborhood Whole Foods, which was a challenge for me. I’m SO happy with the new 365 Market – I love how it is more affordable, and yet I still have access to the brands I love like Kite Hill and Kombrewcha.
Photos by Candace Molatore + Outfits courtesy of Beyond Yoga Hi friends! I’m very excited to share that I partnered with the one and only Kait Hurley on a Feel the Love Movement + Meditation Flow! Kait and I met in Arizona last year at MindBodyGreen’s REVITALIZE, and since then, we’ve become fast friends. She’s one of the sweetest and most loving people I know with such a fire for what she does. She’s really the whole package, and someone I deeply admire. I love Kait’s approach to combining movement with meditation, because it makes meditation much easier after working up a sweat. Meditation helps give your body deep rest to recover, so after you workout, you are less antsy and it’s easier to sit.
By the end of March, I will have flown in and out of 5 different cities in a span of 2 months! That’s the most back-to-back travel I’ve ever done in such a short span of time. While traveling is exciting, it can take a toll on your body if you’re not careful. Especially if you’re flying, you’re more prone to catching a virus since you’re trapped in a metal tube of canned air that’s definitely chilling with germs and bacteria. I’m doing everything I can to stay healthy, so here’s what has been working for me SO FAR!
